ghanaian feel-good atmosphere

Very fast i get used to the normal rythm of the everyday ghanaian lifestyle. And this means especially waking up very early. It becomes normal for me to get up in the morning dawn, to do some sport activities. Under the week i go running at the beach or doing some strength exercises on the volunteers house terrace. On the weekends mostly it´s time to go on the footballfield here in Komenda in the early Morning to play with young and older mens together. But goals are rare. The goal racks have only a size of 20 x 20 inches. By that most of the games will be decided through penalties. The fun in playing with the ball and fellow players, is what keeps the men coming to the footballfield. But it is not only Komenda that gives me the time and place to develop myself in this environment, that is still new for me. Many times I go to Cape Coast to spend some days or evenings in the city sorroundings. There as well as in Komenda I feel the upcoming of good friendships. Thanks to this new friendships i get to know places and events that are kept hidden from outsiders.

The Workshop his contents and fellowers becomes more and more creative. Only a few are really interested in working with the camera, while most of the others are totally into acting. That´s why we put the idea of acting lessons into action very fast. In the afternoon sun Atabasis (one of two schools were the workshops takes places) the group of „acting-students“ show immediatlely their creative potential and some of them their already good performing skills. With only a little bit teaching introduction from myself, the pupils fill the lesson with scenes of an own conceived story about missing respect, rejection, expulsion and reconciliation. But beeing a teacher for the movie-workshop is not that easy all the time. In the Newtown school in Ayensudo (location of the second school) it is much more difficult to carry out the workshop in that way. Again and again our explanation attempts fails, because of the difficulties coming up by the english language. Our way of pronounciation is still hard to untderstand for the pupils and furthermore the knowledge of the english language is very rudimentary by some of the students. Thats why we have to think in smaller steps in Ayensudo. But this is also part of our job, beeing a movie and acting teacher, and we like to take up the challenge.

While under the week the workshops and our life in Komenda and the region determine our days, the weekends are free for visiting also other places more far away. Wherever it´s possible i try to keep track in the hobby of wave-surfing. And Ghana also has it´s places to go for this awesome freetime activity. But it´s not Komenda and the sorroundings that has this opportunity. The beat of the ghanaian surfer-heart is in Busua, a place in the western region of Ghana, two and a half hours away from Komenda (this time specification can differ very much, depending on the time Tro-Tros and shared-taxis are full and ready to drive). Besides the very good surfing conditions, Travel guides introduce this place as one of the touristic centers in Ghana. That´s why my expecting of Busua was limited to Hotel resorts and Club-Bars all along the beach. But the Place transmits tranquility and calmness, that really fascinates me right from the beginning. New friendships and great experiences there, will let me take Busua in good memories and gets me into the feeling of coming back again.
